Beautiful cars!

coyoteboy - 6/6/11 at 10:08 AM

Ugly as sin IMO, sorry! My dad loves them.

stevegough - 6/6/11 at 10:29 AM

A bit outclassed performance - wise by today's standards, but still probably THE best car in the world ever.

(apart from the 2CV)

Never had much love for them myself. Look like rugby balls.

smart51 - 6/6/11 at 11:02 AM

The proportions look wrong to my eye. My dad likes them though. The bonnet is too level and too long compared to the cabin. The windscreen is too vertical and the ground clearance beneath the rear is hugh. They look a bit like referee's whistles to me.

Love the roadster, hate the hardtop but really like the hearse version from the film Harold and Maude.

Got admit to loving them, wish they were as easy to work on as they are on the eye.

Just replaced all the back bodywork on mine, just rebuilding the back axle, it was intended to be a winter spruce up, which has overrun on time and budget.

Beautiful cars, at a push though I prefer the looks of the XK120

Ninehigh - 6/6/11 at 08:02 PM

They're on my list of classic cars I'd like to remake, along with it the 70's and 80's Porsche 911 series and the Lancia Delta

Whenever I get a glazed look when I tell people I have a Fisher Fury, I tell them 'a bit like an E type' and they know approximately what I'm talking about.

plentywahalla - 6/6/11 at 08:52 PM

I had a '69 4.2 drophead. Lovely car. I traded it in for a new TR6 (that shows how long ago it was)

I think the TR6 was my favorite ever car. I loved that TR ... much more than the 'E'. Its difficult to explain why now that the Jag has become so much of an icon.

hah! thats exactly what i say to people when they ask what i'm building, it was the sixties sportscar look that i fell for when i went to the factory.

mrwibble - 6/6/11 at 09:07 PM

there was a light weight low drag e type in issue 4 of track driver, absolutely gorgeous.

macc man - 6/6/11 at 09:41 PM

I would like to take an E Type and fit modern brakes and suspension to make it handle as good as it looks. Still waiting for a lottery win though. Must admit the hard top is a bit ugly compared to the roadster.

se7en - 6/6/11 at 10:11 PM

I will admit to liking the E-Type, I think it was one of the more stylish cars that Jaguar made.

That was until I watched "Victory by Design". On the Jaguar show they showed a C-Type and immediately fell for it - it changed my thoughts on my favourite Jag.

If ever I had the cash I'm afraid it would be a 'vette for me.

iank - 7/6/11 at 06:46 AM

Never really seen the attraction of E-types, and I don't like the way the wheels seem to sit under the car (at least on the roadcars).

If I had to have a jag (and had unlimited funds) it would be XJ13 followed by D-type

XJ13
