Hi All,
I am in the process of changing rear pads on a 57 reg Fiat Bravo
I cant for the life of me get the rear piston to retract
I have one of the retraction tools
If i turn the piston clockwise as you look at it, the piston comes out (i.e the wrong way) but trying to turn it anticlockwise its rock solid and wont
budge
Where am i being stupid? what am i doing wrong?

Loosen the bleed nipple?
Sounds dull but is the handbrake on?
You need to apply some downwards pressure as you turn (apologies if I'm teaching egg sucking here!). I find a g clamp gradually tightened as you
turn the piston always works with rear callipers

Slacken off handbrake cable tensioner, then take lid off fluid reservoir, then screw and push the piston.
Ideally especially on cars with ABS rather than taking the lid off the reservoir it is better to clamp the flex hose and open the the bleed
nipple.

On some modern rear calipers you have to use a left handed threaded tool,It may be possible to wind the piston backwards while turning the outer section of the tool to apply pressure? On others with an electric parking brake you need a tool to plug into the DLC

I'm having a crack at it tonight, the tool i have only goes clockwise so i think some jiggery pokery is required

When I looked into getting a wind back tool I was told there was a left and right one, different thread because either side goes in in different rotations
