Really urgently need to know this for work.

What the weight carrying capacity of a Ford Transit?

It's the short wheel base type that you would rent (so newish model).

Looking at the Ford website PDFs I *think* it's about 1000kg... but I wanted to check.

Presumably they're safe/legal to drive with that much weight in?

well trust Ford to get it wrong, it'll carry about 50 tons but might be flatter than you remember and you really really need to pump the tires up

i was behind a 58 plate tranny today, dunno what was in it, but it was bloody quick for a van, made my 150bhp turbo fiesta work hard to keep up

For an indication of net weight, I scrapped a '96 Tourneo recently, and it weighed in at 1710 kg's. (No concrete blocks either! )

Those seats are very heavy, so I'd say that a van would have been in the 1550~1600kg's area, empty. That'd make the 2600 GVW about right.
