Hmmm, nice

Stuart_B - 1/9/09 at 06:20 PM

nice david, so is that going on now, then? or you going to run it with out for a while?

that will give you a few hp

MikeRJ - 1/9/09 at 06:30 PM

Very nice, a few quids worth there!

Out of interest are there any production cars that use centrifugal superchargers yet?

gazza285 - 1/9/09 at 07:06 PM

Good to see a bit of Huddersfield engineering.

neilj37 - 1/9/09 at 07:08 PM

Think i just soiled myself

flak monkey - 1/9/09 at 07:12 PM

I dont know if I am going to fit it from the start, or run NA for a year yet. It mainly comes down to if I can afford the rest of the bits to fit it between now and March 2010 I guess

I have a set of forged rods on the way from the states, a set of pistons will be on order next month, then the month after that a custom intercooler to sit in front of the polo rad.

So that only leaves me 4 months to do the rest of it

very nice, the same route i am currently heading, what is that charger like compared to a Rotrex performance and physical size wise??

I ask as i just accuired a dry sump kit so am now unsure where things will fit ...lol.

And i do love how the project chagned from a bike TB set to balls out charger

Lol, my projects have a habit of doing that, the pinto started out std, then got rebuilt into a 160bhp engine...

It is a Rotrex Its a C30-94, full details here:

http://www.rotrex.com/pdfs/Rotrex_Technical_Datasheet_C30_Range_V4.0.pdf

Its certainly going to be tight, and there are going to be some unavoidably tight bends in the intake system, but then everything is a compromise. I might also have to move my steering column downlink...

I have the alternator right at the bottom of the engine on the passenger side, and the charger is going right at the top, tight under the exhaust (with some heat sheilding) on the drivers side. Not sure at the moment how tight its going to be to get the outlet pipe on though....

BenB - 1/9/09 at 07:35 PM

Bling bling bling
Very nice.......
Very expensive!!!

t.j. - 1/9/09 at 07:50 PM

Always nice new parts.

big_wasa - 1/9/09 at 08:19 PM

Look forward to hearing that run

When are you coming round to help me with this duratec lark anyway?

iscmatt - 1/9/09 at 10:02 PM

this is one build i cant wait to see the end product of!!

I have a pinto atm like you used to have, wonder what i'll get next ...

coozer - 1/9/09 at 10:44 PM

There was a supercharger Atom at Croft yesterday and all you could here down the straight was wissss... wissss...wissss.. absolutely mint, oh, and very fast

goaty - 2/9/09 at 08:01 AM

just a heads up really, i ahve heard of a few Oil pump failures on forced duratec's recently.
A friend knows alot of engine builders and they are all now saying it is something to be careful of.
Last thing you want is oil failure on a lovely engine build.

I am hoping to squeeze a dry sump in too, can i ask what made you decide the C30-94 and not the 84??
i cant decide at the mo

flak monkey - 2/9/09 at 04:17 PM

To run 1 bar of boost the 94 is at its peak efficiency on a duratec. Also it was what was available

I can closely monitor oil pressure, so will keep an eye on that. If it needed dry sumping, that is stuff I probably cant find space for.

Hopefully someone will come up with an uprated oil pump soon!

goaty - 2/9/09 at 04:20 PM

lol, i need to keep an eye for a charger now.
Have bought a dry sump, lets hope i can fit it in
All the best with yours, i will be keeping a close eye for hints and tips.
cheers

I suppose the thing on the left is a fuel filter, but what is that thing on the right with the yellow plugs ?

MikeRJ - 3/9/09 at 12:08 PM

It's the oil reservoir.

flak monkey - 3/9/09 at 04:38 PM

The ribbed thing is the oil resevoir for the supercharger as Mike says.

The filter is also for the supercharger oil system and is a magnetic particle filter.
