Did it make much difference in power after it has been set up?

i guess that depends how far out it was to start with
you 'should' get a good improvement overall in power, torque, consumption, and know your engine won't try to melt itself

Interesting - I was enquiring at Northampton Motorsport and was quoted approx £45 + Vat for carb balancing, but for the RR I would be looking at 3-4 hours at £90 + Vat per hour, plus (if needed) a dynajet kit for approx £120 +vat.

Thats obviously a massive difference to what Bogg Bro's quoted, so are we talking two different processes here?

I decided to DIY tune the best I can with 'colourtune' and 'carbtune' and then make a decision after that to optomise on a RR or not. I'm only running an 8v Vauxhall engine with bike carbs so dont want to overspend on this set up, and rather save the money for a new engine in the future.

if you've got the carbs from bogg bros or they had a look at them already then they will be nearer right than one sstrait off a bike

bogg bros told me £70 a few years back and reconed it would take around an hour (but I had just spent £300+ with them)

ah! I see! Makes sense.

mrwibble - 2/6/11 at 01:54 PM

i'd of thought most RR would charge by the hour as its going to differ dramatically between cars as to what needs doing...

Dave Bogg is very old school and not in it to make money - he spent at least 2 hours on ours on two occasions and each time charged £80 on a saturday morning (that actually ran over till 1.30pm one day).

Great guy

Great guy

thats the impression I got when I dropped in to pick up my carbs a while back (it was sort of on the way home from leads )
dave even got my carbs ready a week earlier than agreed just because I was going to be passing

and they normally have a few interesting cars to look at in the workshop just incase you get bored
