Have just got back from 2 weeks holiday, to find were having a heat wave back here.

Went into the garage and was struck by a strong smell of petrol.

Investigating a little further I found that the plastic fuel tank had changed shape, the sides and the bottom had bent inwards, coursing the seams to leak.

The tank has a vent pipe fitted and only a temporary filler cap at the moment, which is also vented.

Can not understand why the heat has caused the tank to deform.

Has anyone else had similar problems.

hi mk blade wat answer did u get as ive had the same proplem with my tank .
collapsed for no reason it had no vent in the tank but it had tape over the filler neck with holes in it so that the tank could breath .

my guess is that the vent is one way. when hot, the fuel expands, and expels air. When it cools and air cant come back in, the walls get sucked in.
