2nd owner but pre-SVA - to declare or not?
We bought our indy 75% built from another amateur builder. He has given us all the docs, receipts and info he had for the car (a couple of build
pics).
For the SVA application should I make this known - ie include the receipt he typed out for the sale etc, or should I attempt to pass it all off as our
work to avoid complication? This would be particularly problematic in that the V5 type docs we have for the donour will have his name on.
Or am I better just submitting everything and being honest in saying that someone else (amateur) built half the car?

the SVA forms have an option for buying a part built kit from a previous amateur builder. i dont think it will be an issue.
might be an idea to get the donor registered in your name though if you want to retain the reg mark...

I think this was a big problem for someone on here - the office then wanted proof that is was built by the other person and photos etc.
I was in same boat and said I built it - no problems at all.
they will also want to receipts for the chassis - I shows them steel and welding gas receipts that seemed to satisfy their need for receipts.

Regards the donour - he scrapped it as he said he was fed up of sorn'ing it (hardly a chore but there you go). I think if i remember correctly i
only have the remenants (the bit you retain when getting rid of the vehicle) of the V5 and a clear photo of the proper document. Does this mean we
have no chance of getting an age related reg?
Thinking on it more, I think I will have to be truthful - in order to provide traceability and age confirmation of the donour/engine etc I'll
have to submit what I have, and in doing so make it will obvious that someone else has built part of it (I've noticed the box for this option on
the am build form). I've asked him to look for any other pics he has.
02GF74 if you said you built all of yours, did you register the donour in your name to get around the above?
At the moment I dont think we have the kit receipt from MK either - I have contacted the PO to see if he still has it, otherwise im hoping MK can help
us out.

Re. the V5, if he scrapped it then the reg is gone, you will get a Q.
Other people have made the same mistake.

Hi,
I had a problem when I put in my paperwork, I ticked the box stating that it was a part built kit when I got it, they refused my paperwork and told me
to get in contact with the initial builder, unfortunately that was not possible as i got the car from an intermediary so I phoned VOSA up and had a
discussion with them and they agreed that I had done enough work for it to be classed as me having been the only one to do the work, they ticked the
self build. So I would say it is all your own work.

I had exactly the same dilemna. I have declared my Avon as bought part-built as the receipts from Tiger are in original builders name. Otherwise,
would they not question why receipts aren't in my name if I was sole builder?
I'm hoping the photos I included with application show that I have done majority of build.
Still, I only sent off forms today so it remains to be seen if all will be OK. ![](/images//smilies/sad.gif)
