Differences between SVA and IVA rules?
Has anyone done a brief roundup of any of the main differences between these yet? Kinda big things to watch out for during a build...

Current thinking (im not going to trawl through finding the references) is that you need to be slightly quieter (under 99db), have a reverse in a BEC
and a fixed headrest.
Oh and youll have to save up for another year as its gone to £500ish.

Brilliant,I guess i just need to get a copy of the IVA book and read those sections and see whats now required. I reckon most of its readily enough
covered tho?

Fuel tank approval not heard that mentioned before, have i been asleep or does that somehow not apply to us. Just about to go out and do the
finishing welds on my tank now!

Fuel tank inspection on draft IVA just says something like...
"Ensure tank for fuel is suitable for use, does not obstruct of foul other parts, is away from sources of heat and is suitably secured"

It means if you choose a plastic tank it needs to meet some EU rules, metal tanks are fine IIRC.
The latest v3 version of the IVA draft is in the sticky at the top of this section

That was my first thought - it cannot be anything too complicated, what could they possibly measure on the test?

Well you could always read the draft to find out
But in this case the draft doesn't seem to be finished - or if it is it's meaninglessly self referential.

It's waived where the applicant accepts a CO2 figure determined by
the Secretary of State.
So it looks like you need to provide guesstimates for the urban, extra urban and combined fuel consumption and a CO figure in g/km.
Which seems to imply you'll get banded road tax rather than engine sized road tax. That's going to really hurt BECs and people who fit

Makes sense for people who want a new reg (09/59 etc) but not for age related or Q registration. Something else for the nice people at the DVLA to
make up random policies on the spot.

The test is split in 2
The Basic Requirements and the Normal Requirements. The Fuel comsumption comes under the Normal requirements and my understanding is that an ameture
built vehicle only have to pass the Basic Requirements.
So the fuel consumption does not apply.
