Registering engine change with DVLA

Has anyone who has gone from a car engine to bike engine had any trouble registering the change with the DVLA? Do they want any proof etc?

Just wondered if they suspect people lying about an engine change to a smaller capacity to get lower tax?

I've had problems with tintops downgrading ie 1.6 16v corsa to 1100 8v corsa, 2lt pinto to 1300, they wanted engineers reports, never had a problem when we put a 2lt cavalier motor in a corsa. seems they don't mind upgrading but as you said very dubious about fiddling the other way

i've just got mine back, i filled in the change sent it off and it came back unaltered with a covering letter saying they needed proof of it been fitted, i had a slight additional problem as i didn't have an engine number on mine, i rang the author of the letter and discussed it he said all they needed was a letter from a garage, didn't need to be mot station, which said it was fitted and the capacity. i got my local garage to write something on his invoice pad, he stamped the top with his garage name and address and signed it (complete with oily finger marks) and it would apper it was ok as i've got a new document now with 998cc and engine number unknown on.

I've done a few landrovers from Petrol to Diesel and from 2.5 Diesel to 2.8 Diesel

No probs in either cas just filled in the V5 including fuel change and sent it away. When I can to MOT it MOT tester tested according to engine. ie diesel test if diesel engine.

You'll need a letter from a garage / engineer verifying it is what you say it is.
