I just called at lunchtime and got put through to a very pleasant but clearly stressed gentleman who told me that they are receiving about 30
applications per day at present and to call back on Wednesday and he will look and see if my application has been accepted. He was politely trying to
get me off the phone as soon as possible if the truth be told, and didn't seem keen on looking up the status of yet another SVA application...
Most worrying, he said he couldn't comment on the need for receipts and photographs without seeing my application but regardless, any material
to be considered as part of the application must be received by Friday! I think I'm going to have to pull together a big PDF document full of
everything I can think of and have it ready to print and post if requested, otherwise I won't have time to respond to any requests for further
info.
This whole Amateur Built Declaration is a pain in the a$$ - I thought we lived in a society where you were innocent until proven guilty not guilty of
"kit-car fraud" until proven innocent!
Sorry for the rant but the suspense is getting to me...they've not even cashed my cheque!
Cheers,
Craig.

just spoken to a "very nice man" at VOSA. He said that althouhg my application wasnt on the system it wasnt a problem as they have a
backlog at the moment because of the Feb deadline however if I had proof of receipt (sent mine by recorded delivery) for before the 28th then I would
get into SVA.

[Sorry if I'm repeating myself but there are a few threads on the go about various aspects of SVA applications...]
Good news is that my cheque has now been cashed and I got a call from the Glasgow SVA centre to arrange my SVA test appointment. They said that 11th
March was the first available slot but to call and arrange something suitable. I've not officially heard that my application has been accepted
but I hope this means that it has been. I might get a letter tomorrow to confirm.
So 5 working days from Swansea receiving my application to me getting the phone call doesn't seem bad - I feel a bit foolish now for panicking
yesterday...
I hope everyone else gets their applications through okay.
Cheers,
Craig.

Looky you!!
i got home to be greeted by a letter from VOSA. its the amateur build declaration, asking for all my receipt and photo's etc. I thought
i'd got away with it!
So i called them and a nice man called Nigel said i need to send only 6-8 photo's covering the main stages of the build, and certified copies of
receipts for all the main components. BY FRIDAY!
though he did give me the option of e-mithering them instead, which gives me some scope to find things, scan them and send them off.
so just need to clean my pants and get on with it now.
Martin
PS. he did state "there's a bit of a backlog", but they've had no 'official' details of any extension to the
deadline, so friday it is!!
who says you can't drive a kit car when you're 6'5"?

Sorry to hear that mate - that's pretty much what I thought might happen to me because I was unable to provide receipts for all my main
components. I had to go digging through Paypal to find receipts for bodywork and shock absorbers/springs which I bought from GTS Tuning. Luckily
Paypal goes back for years. I sent a total of 15 receipts for various bits and bobs but notably excluding the gearbox, diff and engine which I sourced
from local enthusiasts on a cash basis. I did state that in my covering letter though.
As you mentioned, make sure you sign each copy of each receipt to validate it as copied by yourself. If I were you I would email them and post them by
recorded (signed for) post. Watch out of emailing that the file size doesn't get too big otherwise it might get rejected by one of the mail
servers along the way.
Good luck!
Craig.
