TAX refused - MOT needed??

My wife was just denied re-taxing my car.
What's the law on kit cars?. Thought it was the same as normal cars, i.e. under 3 years not MOT required?
Comments please before I ring DVLA tomorrow.

Unless you need it super speedily sending it recorded to your local DVLA office is the easiest way of sorting it out. Saves queing up waiting at the local office....

Just looked online for your car,

Date of Liability 01 03 2009
Date of First Registration 22 02 2007
Year of Manufacture Not Available
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 998CC
CO2 Emissions 0g/Km
Fuel Type Petrol
Export Marker Not Applicable
Vehicle Status Licence Due to Expire
Vehicle Colour BLACK
Vehicle Type Approval null

strange year of maunufacture not available, may be something to do with it.
I think i'd change the colour.

Just go in the post office, my local one just gave me a form to fill in and it was sorted there and then. Make sure you have the V5 and all your paperwork

Very common with Q plaes according to my PO.

Filled out V112 form and hen to the Post Office near where I work and no problems at all, not sure she actually looked at the form, I had ticked MOT exempt on the form and she just said - is it a kit car to which I obviously replied, yes, and that was that, job done. what a relief, thought I was in for going on SORN and sorting out an MOT.
Why is there this kind of difference depending where you go?
They should get there act together to give a better service.
