Which local DVLA office??

hello, been a long time since ive been on here and been a long time since i started my build.....

getting to the end now and just a quick question...

I dont know which dvla office to go for. My permanent address is in south buckinghamshire and I now work in farnborough. I have untill now been working near salisbury ans staying mid week in a rented room. Due to space requirements i had to take my car down to salisbury to work on it as and when i could during the week this has meant slow progress but a good space to work on it.

Now im wanting to start the sva/iva and registration processes. What dvla local office do i start to work with? one near my permanent address or one near where the car actually is???

if i go for the bournemouth office (easier in my eyes) then might they have issues with me not having a bill with my name on??

Cheers
Fin

Not sure if it really matters fin, home address where your reciepts have been billed to might be an advantage.

Yeah ive decided an SVA/IVA test at Yeading or Mitcham and use of the Wimbledon local DVLA office...

Closest to where I now work and closest to my permanent home. Just fairly far from where the car is at the moment. Dont think that will be a big issue though.

Cheers

findlay its been a long time mate, be good to see your finished car.

Keep us posted on mitcham or yeading as i will probably pop along.I found wimbledon easier to get to by train(station almost next door)

Well im thinking of putting mitcham as first choice, for a morning slot because the wimbledon office is on the way and i can pop in on the way back from SVA, that would be ok if i was planning to drive to sva..... wouldnt it. The dvla office is basically between home and mitcham....

Have you had the inspection re chassis number ?

I presume if you have not booked a definate VRO the answer is no,probably worth trying to get a home inspection 1st when the car is back.
Most people try and get the VRO inspection sorted out prior to SVA, this is to make the registration part a bit easier and quicker.

Yeah but there lies the problem. The car is currently in salisbury. Which is nice and local for the bournemouth dvla office.

Only issue is its miles away from wimbledon and I don’t have a trailer and have many times tried to get someone to trailer it for me. I ended up having to pay a transporter company to get it to Salisbury in the first place. Im not liking the idea of paying for transport back. There is also the issue of proof of address for registration. If I go to the Bournemouth office they will ask why my permanent address is bucks yet the car is in Salisbury and im registering it at Bournemouth.

My plan is to phone Wimbledon dvla office to chat about chassis number. Then to book SVA/IVA at mitcham with the intention of visiting wimbledon on the way back from SVA.

I wish you the best of luck, I tried that last week for this Monday, dragged the buggy 40 miles to VOSA at Nottingham for the retest. Then on to DVLA Nottingham 3 miles away only to be told in no uncertain terms that i would have to bring it back at their convenience which is now next Tuesday. So another 80 mile round trip to do then, i had even submitted to them by post as much documentation as I could barring the V5C (which I kept in case VOSA wanted anything from it) & MAC (which I didn't have till Monday)
