MOT requirement

Hi, had my car MOT'd before sva - mainly to check brakes, emissions etc.
Query is - i took it to dvla office and they gave me a new one with reg no on it.

Do i need one this year! Car is reg 08!
or do i get 2 more years without needing one.

I know its only 40 squids to do but i'd rather spend that on fuel

if the car is registered as a new build then you dont need an MOT for 3yrs after the SVA pass date.

look at your log book, you do not need a MOT until the 3 year aniversary of the 'Date of First Registration' box on the V5. As long as that correctly state an 08 date, then you've got another two year before needing an MOT.
Cheers

Scott

As long as they didn't register the MOT test when they checked it. If they did then you will need an mot test 1 year after the date on the mot certificate (Which you'd only have got if it was registered).
