Re-Taxing after a SORN.
I passed my SVA in June of last year, & paid for 6 months tax. The car spent the winter on a SORN. I went to the post office today, to get 6
months tax.
However, they won’t give me any tax as I don’t have a MOT.
I was under the impression that I would not need a MOT for 3 years, or because my car passed its SVA less that a year ago, the MAC certificate would
still be valid.
So, do I need a MOT, or have the old dears in the post office got it wrong, or have DVLA made a mistake with registering my car?
The registration document states that:-
Date of first registration: - 1989 (date of my donor engine)
Date of first registration in the UK: - June 2008
Luckily my local DVLA office is only a mile from where I work, so I am going ‘in hope’ there tomorrow.
What have others experiences been?
Cheers,
B
PS. I also tried online, same problem 'no current MOT'

Do it online and you won't have a problem. No MOT required for 3 years from date of first registration after sva (not sva date)

wrong won't let you do it, as i couldn't do mine online for this reason (electronic register)
Get a V112 form fill it in and take it to the post office instead of a MOT certificate

The online system shafted me on one of the family cars, backdating a whole month.
Tomorrow i will try and tax the kit at the post office.
