You need a donor v5 for at least two major parts to get age related plate, If you get a Q it cannot be changed.

usually engine and gearbox. you also need to be able to prove the chassis is 'new' by showing a receipt for it or the steel you used to make it

Hi, I've just gone through that stage. On the v627 form I put down axels, and full steering rack and they said that that was enough. oh and you need the V5 aswell.

If you get an age related plate like I have you will notice on the V5 that it is marked 'non transferrable' meaning you cannot move the age related plate to another vehicle. I don't know whether this means you cannot transfer a 'personal plate' onto the car as well?

You can put a private plate on, i asked the women from the DVLA if I could stick mine on, she asked is the private plate the same age or older I said yes, she said that there wouldn't be any problems then. But the age related plate will not be the same as the one off the donor car

thats a bloody joke that the axles and steering rack count as enough for the thingy!! I'll tell them i used the carpets and oil, plus a few meters of wire, and see if thats enough!!
