SVA Fail... Norwich
Hi Guys,
Had my SVA this morning in Norwich. Was tested by a guy called Jim. Really nice guy who used common sense above anything else to try and get me
through. Failed on rear brakes. Distribution of force and in-op handbrake on one side. Also one or two projection issues (minor sanding will cure)
speedo was a little jumpy so not accurate and bad earth on headlights as i earthed direct to chassis (when we adjusted lights they went out!). All in
all i am upbeat and i think pretty good fail.

Sounds promising fella. When I get to that stage (all be it will be IVA) I think I'd be quite happy with that.
Good luck with the retest

Not to worry, shouldn't take to long to fix, I was the the other guy there on Monday morning, I also failed, mainly on emissions but I felt it
was a fair test, and the guys there were pretty helpfull.

Sorry about the fail
I only hope that my fail list is that short when I have mine tomorrow
Getting really nervous now even though ive read so many positive things about the testers. You cant help but be nervous when its your baby that you
have worked on for xyz years

Dan,
I failed on a jumpy speedo. My MK has a standard Sierra setup using the instruments from the donor.
I had (or found) three problems:
1. the cable inner was damaged/rusty and therefore not fully flexible - replaced cable
2. the speedo instrument's bearing (at cable entry) was a bit tight, as if it had dried out - oiled and twiddled using electric screwdiver +
square drive bit. It gradually freed up.
3. the worm drive to the odometer was slightly damaged, so I removed the second cross shaft.
As a result of these three fixes, the speedo is steady as a rock (but no odometer).
HTH,
John.
He's whittling on a piece of wood. I got a feeling that when he stops whittling, something's gonna happen. (OUATITW/Cheyenne)
