I'm not sure it matters if the question is can I drive the car without displaying the tax disc?

The offence is failure to display a valid tax disc rather than not having any tax at all.

DVLA tax it from the date of registration normally. If the start of the next month is only a few days away they might ask if you want it to start from then; Thats what they did with me when my reg went through 2 days before the month end.

I'd say you were taxed. You can drive a taxed car without displaying the disc for 5 days from the start of the tax if you haven't recieved it when you do it online or by post so you should be OK...but don't quote me on that!

That's what it says on the DVLA website, but if you haven't received it within 5 days you have to contact them.

Sounds like you might be okay then.

The DVLA has a web page that allows you to check if its taxed. All you need is the Reg and then type the make in.

Linky
