No! It will need to be trailered. There was a post about similar a while agi (more towing dollys), but the concensus was it was not allowed.

If any of the wheels are on the road, it has to be road legal.

ditto, although I'd just drive it to a local MOT station, get a pretest and then sort what it needs. Really you just need to trailer it if it’s
nowhere near ready for the road. Regardless the car should be road totally worthy even when going for an MOT

I had to rent a trailer for £40 to move a car 6 miles. Its a pain, especially as I'm too young to tow !!!! (30yr old). The rules are dumb.

There was some confusion about the legality of towing dollies and A-frames (I'm staying neutral) but the general rule is that if the vehicle has
its wheels on the road then it needs tax and insurance.

When did u pass your test?? Im 27 and passed the year after the rule came in.
If you passed your test after 97 then you have to take a trailer test. I passed in 98. Did my trailer test a couple of months ago.

I towed mine 50 miles with a solid bar, but it had Tax, MOT and insurance.
If you towed it, make sure you put a light board over the plate. Oh, and use the back roads!
Kindest Regards,
Richard.

If the brakes work then book an MOT half way home. Worth while getting it done just so you know what needs doing plus 7 or 8 miles from where it was
should be ok just in case you get stopped. Of course it was the nearest MOT test station that could fit it in officer

Just to add another one into the mix, it is also illegal to tow a broken down vehicle onto the motorway.

and yeh just to get my two pennith worth in!
i m pretty sure those a frame towing things are a bit dody as if its over 500 kgs its got to be braked!!! i really wouldn t take anything onto the
motor way like that! think the best way i ve ever done it was a fiat coupe turbo i bought from liverpool, no mot no insurance went up paid for it,
removed the insides from the key ie the imoblizer chip and called our nice friendly rac man!!!! got it towed back to portsmouth 230 miles away!!!! i
said well i m gonna drive my other car back so i ve got something to use whilst that ones broken!!! great success! would assume they re getting wise
to that now though!
