fuel hose and IVA
ok, i'm using stainless braided fuel hose thoughout the whole system, and i intend to run the hose inside some copper pipe down the transmission
tunnel to protect from the exhaust as thats in there too (on the opposite side)
the IVA manual is a bit vague on fuel hose, and i can't find any mention about where or how it should be secured. not even anything about the
marking's it should have or anything.
P clips are usually the way forward, and i'll be using them on the copper pipe down the tunnel, as the rivets would just go through the tunnels
1mm steel sheet into the cabin. i don't really fancy drilling more holes in my chassis as this may allow water in over time. i've never
been keen on drilling the chassis anyway, though i understand its usually done that way.
can anyone see any problems with putting the fuel hose inside convoluted tube and securing it to the chassis tubes with tie wraps?
have people passed with fuel hose held like this before?

two things, the manual says the pipe must be firmly secured I think, which is commonly interpreted as the same as brake lines (i.e. every 5-10 inches
with a p-clip or similar mounting bracket.)
Tie wraps are not seen as permenant and also allow some movement (unless you completely constrict the pipe by doing it up super tight!)
Its less about rules and regs here and more about the examiner judging your fuel lines to be sensibly and professionally secured in place.
Also are you going for a record for number of fuel line/IVA questions in a set period of time?

haven't you got work to do?...
see, the latest manual doesn't say anything about fuel hoses at all. the nearest thing under 'fuel tanks' is:
4. All fuel related components must be securely mounted.
doesn't say how though. i seem to remember a couple of years ago, people saying that tie wraps were fine for brake lines. and if its good for
them, why not fuel?

SVA manual just said "secure" for fuel lines but listed 30cm max between clips on looms so most stick to that. I assume IVA is the
same.
"...1mm steel sheet into the cabin..." :0 Are you planning to stop bullets?

well, i guess i'm going to fail first time round (probably as soon as he looks at the chassis not that there's anything dangerous, but
its go like a split screen type thing going on. but thats another issue...)
i'll go with tie wraps even 6-9" and P clip the copper part. it's only the sake of about 1.5m of it being tie wrapped
