Lights on MOT Test

Hopefully the answer should come quickly from this question.

When they test your lights on the MOT do you need to be able to flash your main beams?

My indicators on all 4 corners work but for some reason my side repeaters don't, again is this a fail on MOT?

Re mot--

Hi, you have to have main & dip beam, but not flash, also the side repeaters are mot requirement.

i'm pretty sure you don't have to flash, i can't and i've never had a prob. pretty sure your repeaters will be a fail on the basis you have them fitted so they should work. if the rest work it should be an easy fix. i think the requirement is age dependant but if you can't get them working i'd take them off and tape the hole up for the test

Ok thanks, i had some unofficial internet information which mentions you should have side repeaters.

As you say i might get away with the flashing main beam.

Click edit post and click the delete box underneath the message.

Sometimes it's the forum server software that does the duplication and they fix themselves after a while.

You need one for SVA/IVA, even if you could remove it after the test why would you?

I dont need an SVA/IVA as the car has been on the road since 1999,

but i have redone the back panel, due some damage and am planning on decluttering,ie spare wheel , fog lights, and some other weight saving issues

IIRC you only need side repeater lamps if the front indicators are obscured from the side view. This is up to whatever the MOT guy thinks as he's unlikely to know the exact angle he needs to look from!
