Tintop VIN number re-stamping

Just bought a mini. Scuttle panel has been replaced. The VIN number needs to be restamped onto the new panel. I assume i can do this myself. Comments please?

It's one of those iffy points, could look a bit suspicious, do they mark them any were else as a backup if pulled.

Assuming you mean a Mini not a MINI

That would depend on year of manufacture ---- Mini spanned a lot of years in the istr early days the chassis number was a plate pop riveted on on the bonnet landing panel.

In later years VIN info was standardised on a plate in the paensgers door aperture.

In the Austin-Rover days they stamped a back-up chassis number in the boot at the side of the spare wheel well.
