So near but not quite near enough

If you can get one I have had a good IVA failure!
Retest already booked for 24th of this month so 3 weeks to fix the failed bits.......

Exhaust too noisy 103dB (ummm)
Front indicators not E marked (schoolboy on my part)
Not enough self centering (good discussion with tester about what the manual means when it says a degree of centering)
and finally an interesting one......
position of fuel tank means that if a rear impact occurred then there MAY be a possibility that the diif mounting bolts pierce the tank (from a pure safety perspective very true so no arguments from me, just need to put in some solid segregation between the two and talk to Luego about this one for the future)

Other than than that everything else was a pass and not the nightmare I was expecting. Particularly pleased with the brakes and IVA proof bias bar, speedo 100% accurate and emissions first time pass with no adjustments needed (1st time ever at Edmonton according to the tester)
All in all I think a good fail with not too much to resolve
Cheers
Ricky

I would take um bridge at the front indicators as I have been told by Swansea that the only lights needing e mark it was the fog.

As you say though not much so very well done on achieving what you have.

Adrian

p.s. what have used for centre mirror? Not found any finished pictures yet in archive.

As you say ..A good fail.

Not too much to do.

seem to recall you used a different diff to the normal Luego sierra diff

Look forward to seeing the car next year possibly at Stonleigh

Paul

edit

having looked at the pics in your archive I can understand the fail on this point. Is it possible to fit the bolts in the other direction?

This is not a normal issue using a sierra diff as it bolts in from the side not at the rear

Adrian - the centre mirror is a SPA stalk mounted with rubber edging. Some pics now in archive

Paul - I used the S2000 diff. Luego had to modify the mounting positions to accommodate

Thats a good fail. No reason not to pass on retest. How much is an IVA retest?

How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

£90 for the retest, or that was on my form.

Thanks for the pictures of the mirror, I will see if I can get edge trim of some form on the racetec one I have if not I now know where to go.

Looking at the pictures that is one nice looking car with plenty of shiny stuff on it and seen one mean looking exhaust before it was wrapped.

I can see a discrepancy between your tester and mine, but will not mention on the forum.

Good luck with the re-test but doubt if you will need it the car looks excellent, a
nd the bits you mentioned will quickly be done I am sure.

Cheers

Adrian

My retest has cost £40 booked directly with the test centre although I do also remember seeing £90 written down somewhere

Thanks for all the positive comments

Hard luck, but at least you now have a diffinative list of things to do. Should be easy enough to sort.

Have the rules on lights canged between SVA and IVA? For SVA lights passed with the correct E mark but without E mark (or wrong one) could still pass if they emmited light of similar brightness to a correctly marked lamp. Problem is that that requires the tester to make a judgement on whether they are of equal brightness.
