It has been asked many times!
Take the documentation to the post office and show them the V5C to prove it is less than 3 years old... assuming that DVLA got it right the first time
and put Aug 09 as the date of first registration

Sounds like DVLA made a mistake. I would contact them and say (politely) that you think it's a mistake because it was not rebuilt but a kit car.
Since it is age-related and not the original donor reg (unless it is?), then it is not the same vehicle, therefore 27 08 09 should be recorded as the
date of first registration.
Good luck with DVLA... it will depend who you get.

Stu
as Humbug says above usual DVLA! Your car did not exist in 1992 and when first registered in 2009 that should have been entered as sug albeit some
donor parts were used.
Get in to DVLA office to re tax and bite your lip politely asking them to correct
DATE OF FIRST REGISTRATION! been down that road twice wiff em and sorted out once you explain.
Warning to all check the registration carefully when you get this back after initial first registration.
cheers D

Well after an hour on the phone to DVLA they still saying that date of first registration (1992) is right but they said it does not need MOTing for 3
years
they said try the post office if not go to thier office in bristol, which is a pain as they only open week days and i work all week
at least it is a bit of a result
