SVA PASSED

Many thanks to those who wished us well... we passed first time. Not without hitches tho', it initially failed on noise emissions, 104Db then when turned exhaust output 102Db. We (ah-hem) had inspiration to stuff some wire wool into the exhaust to bring it down within acceptable levels. Also for those hoping to pass with a cycle speedo - that loophole has now been closed unless you have independent conformation of accuracy (not manufacturer). The wheels were toed right out (thanks snoopy!) for centring from full lock. We had almost nothing to rectify way, up until the noise test - which was nice!

Many thanks again for all the advice given by many - without you's we would have been no-doubt returning for a re-test.

Maybe see some of you at Stoneleigh...

CONGRATULATIONS. Well done. Interesting point about the bicycle speedo. Surely they confirm the speedo's accuracy there and then as part of the test. Did they give any reason why they needed confirmation of the speedo's accuracy. It doesn't make sense.

Well done! I have to say I'm not suprised looking at your site.

I'm concerned about my speedo though. How did you get independant confirmation on the accuracy?

I only have to panel the boot and fit the speedo, I don't need a last minite panic.

We used the original speedo pick-up from the blade and mounted it on the rear drive shaft. The calibration was then altered using a Speedohealer (an electronic module very similar to a Yellowbox). We only had the cycle computer as a back-up until the speedohealer had arrived. Fortunately it wasn't required.

On the basis that it took six months to build, I think we'll be looking to order another kit about July/August time, so we have a second one ready for about this time next year. Having said that, I'd be really surprised if a second one would take that long. Just need to get a double garage now...............
