MOT again...

I've just gone to tax my car on line only to find out that there's no record of it having an MOT.

The car was SVA'd last year and registered in October - as far as I'm concerned it shouldn't need an MOT for 3 years. Is this right?

The problem is that the car is on an eBay auction that ends this evening and needs to go with 6 months tax on it.

Is there anything I can get sorted out with the DVLA or am I better off just getting an MOT tomorrow morning?

this happens alot, with newly registered finished kits, you need to go to your local DVLA office & they,ll sort it out if you take all your docs with you.

cheers

F**k!

I really need the money from the sale, which it looks like I'll have to cancel now while I get all this sorted out.

the same thing happened to my mate in january, tried to tax it online but wouldn,t accept it as the "system" said it needed an MOT, he went to the dvla local office, taxed it there & then,
something to do with the Vosa system not interacting with the DVLA system,

sorry if it wasn,t what you wanted to hear ( read).

I can't do a visit to the DVLA office - will have to try and get what I can done remotely.

I own my own business and can't afford the time off to sort this out at the DVLA office.

I've had to end my eBy auction while it gets sorted out - really looked like it was going to go as well judging by the number of watchers and the bids that had been placed so far.

Cheers for the help guys - I'l see what I can get done via phone this week. Otherwise I suppose it'll need to be SORN'd on Wednesday. I just hope it can be sorted quickly and easily.

I went to the local post office last week to tax mine. Took the reminder notice, insurance cert and my V5. Handed over the first two and the man said ' You have not given me an MOT cert.'

I replied ' No, it was first registered last year as a new build.'

PO man ' Has it got personal plates then?'

Me ' No age related due to the doner vehicle. '

PO man ' Oh, OK then here you go. '

Job done.

A lot depends on where you go, who you talk to and the responses that you give. Stupid isn't it.

Hope you get it sorted OK mate.

When I went to register it at Northampton DVLA last year, it was mostly me telling the lad behind the desk what had/needed to be done and then he confirmed it all with another staff member. Ar$e and elbow comes to mind.
