A few IVA q's
Evening all again, Im nearing getting my Indy ready for IVA and have a few questions
firstly i have read that about the rear top harness mounts need to be higher than the slots in the seat so that the seat doesnt need to be structural,
however i remember reading some time ago (i think) that the cobra seats are fine and can be considered structual can anyone confirm this? I dont mind
spacing the top harness mounts anyway as i already have some spacer tubing just would like to know?
secondly i have insulated my exhaust with some exhaust wrap from engine bay to the exhaust exit including the silencer will i still need an exhaust
sheild for IVA?
thirdly i had at one point mounted my side repeaters on the scuttle but after reading several posts on here they wont pass so have opted to mount them
on the front wing, however my old repeaters are still in the scuttle can i leave them where they are and still have them working or should i leave
them there but dissconnect the bulb for the test?
any help is much appriciated Greg

i also would like to know the answer to the first and last question.
As for the exhaust, that hasn't been an issue since the IVA manual got redrafted before testing even began.. it doesnt need any cover or wrap

Taking a bulb out.
My understanding is that if a non-mandatory light, such as a reversing light, is fitted it must work. Therefore taking a bulb out of the unwanted
repeater light would not be acceptable. Also, I think that only one side repeater light is allowed, but seek confirmation of this in the IVA manual.

erm, but reverse lights are mandatory...
yeah, if its not to work, taking the bulb out won't be allowed. it must not have any wiring to it either, best way is to remove it completely,
and find something to plug the hole with

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

Hi,
1: My harness mounts are lower than the slot in the seats and the tester did not pick up on it ar my IVA last week.
2: If the exhaust has no sharp edges you should be fine
3: I had exactly the same problem - If you leave them in it fails as you can only have 1 side repeater, if you disconnect it it will fail as a non
functioning light.
you have a couple of options you cn remove them and put a grommit in the hole or connect them tothe lights and they will cound as a side marker
light.

1. - Can you not just let the harnesses go round the sides of the seats for the test?
2. - My exhaust was OK with no wrap, just had to spin the clamps round a bit to not contact the sphere thingy.
3. - i removed the lamps from the scuttle, otherwise you will fail as others had said, i just plugged the holes with a couple of penny washers and a
bolt. Mounted the repeaters on the front wings.

I'm just now finishing a car for IVA, and went through the manual last night.
Fog and Reversing lights are MANDATORY for those who haven't read the latest manual available online.
The exterior sections of the exhaust have to comply with the radius rule.
The seatbelt is at the interpretation of the tester.
Check the IVA manual link which is referenced at the start of this section.
Cheers,
Nev.
I noticed that the fuel cap has to be attached by some means to the car. A bath plug chain beckons.
