documents (v5)
hello im new here! my name is mick and im building a chriss gibbs locost. im planning on putting a motorcycle engine in my roadster does anyone know
if i have to have the v5 docs off the engine for its iva test or do i just need a receipt for the engine ive bought.

Welcome to the forum!
It's the DVLA that will want to see all of your receipts so they can work out the registration to give you but this will almost certainly be a Q
plate if you're using a 2nd hand engine, or a new registration if you're using a new engine. The V5 only really becomes relevant if
you're going for an age-related plate which doesn't normally happen with bike engined cars afaik?
If you've got the V5 then keep it, but just the receipt should be fine.

PS: Keep all of your receipts for everything in a box file during the build!

Welcome to the mad house!
The only reason you might want the V5 at IVA would be to prove engine age, if its a pre '95 unit, in order to get a none cat' emmisions
test.
What engine are you planning to use? Ignore the BEC doubters that I'm sure will be along soon.

just found your reply i havent got the engine yet? what engine would you recommend i dont want a hia boosa to exspensive!
