A mate of mine went to Derby a couple of weeks ago and was lucky enough to have a trainee do his SVA, needless to say......it failed.

He was being pulled up on stupid things that if it had been done by anyone else or anywhere else wouldn't have failed on but as it was a trainee it was done literally "to the book"

On the good side of things, the examiners gave brilliant advice and were very friendly.

Top blokes.

They are fair and helpful, Gillingham ought to get in touch with them. They seem to like doing kits.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Ive just (last week) passed at Derby.

Friendly bunch, I had two different testers, the first one would have passed me except for the emissions being out. The next guy picked up some points missed on the first test and if it hadnt failed on noise would have let me fix it there and then.
All in all I felt they were OK, they like kits going through and will try and help as all they do the rest of the time are imports which are apparently very boring.

If you want any other info just ask.

Gordon

Gordon, are you saying that when you went back for a retest just for emissions they tested other stuff as well? I thought they would only redo that which failed.

Yes the new tester on the second SVA decided that he wanted to look over it, he said that if he was signing the form he wanted it right, he only picked on a couple of things which I was a bit pi$$ed about at the time, but when it then failed on noise (because I had fitted a different silencer) there didnt seem any point having an argument about it, and he would have let me fix them there anyway.
I dont think he was being awkward, and he did come up with some usefull tips.

Cheers for the info. I will treat Friday as if it is a full test then.
