tax disc woe

My car has now been on the road for 2 years , just renewed my tax disc , but couldn't do it on-line because of the Q plate (even though I managed to last year) . So had to go through the farcical process of filling in a V112 exemption form to get my tax disc even though the lady at the counter didn't want the form to keep I just had to show her the signed form .

They say we need joined-up thinking in government ......here's a good place to start surely VOSA can inform the DVLA when a chassis number passes SVA/IVA which would then get aligned with a number plate on the registration form and then the DVLA will know that it does not need an MOT until 3 years after registration. Surely this is not High tech stuff I'm talking here . geez!!!

Not as bad as the tax office. This year I had to write in to request my tax details for last year so I could phone up the SAME F**KING OFFICE to tell them what they just posted to me, so they can finally figure out I stopped being self employed TWO years ago

I had a lot of email conversations with DVLA and VOSA, point 1 VOSA are generaly very profesional and helpfull.
DVLA have some local autonomy and can decide at registration whether you need an MOT in 3 years or annually, generaly the guidance (and I stress guidance) is 3 years to MOT after IVA.
I got to the point with my emails where I thought by pushing my enquiry any further could prompt the DVLA to look more closelly at the MOT policy for kit built vehicles, at this point in my long and protracted conversations with DVLA I dcided to let sleeping dogs lie,.
