Seat Belt Mount Spacers

Whilst on the theme of seat belt mounts.

Has anyone any thoughts/tried seat belt mount spacers to increase the height vs the seat holes.

I've used approx 30mm spacers from the top of my Indy mounts to make sure that the seats don't become effective mounts. Does anyone know if this is a viable option?

The other item is that my belts are fixed, i.e. don't have top hat spacers. I assume that this is OK, nothing in the IVA manual says otherwise. I came on this when talking to MK, as they have been told by the IVA inspector that they prefer the seabelt(?) top hats to be in above the belt rather than below to provide extra pull though protection. Mine are certified belts but are fixed mount rather than swivel.

I wouldn't be happy with that amount of spacer,30mm sounds like quite a lot of extra leverage on the mounting bolt to me.

Just my opinion.

Considering that, would you think butt welding the spacer to the top of the threads would work, i.e. making them part of the structure?
