Electromagnetic Compatibility - IVA ?
Just doing some more detailed reading of the IVA document to check for items that I may have missed and the 'Electromagnetic
Compatibility' page is puzzling me.
What do I actually need to have on the car for this?
I've got a Rover V8 on carbs and ye olde points dizzy.
The IVA manual doesn't specify what is actually required in order to comply with it... it just states that the HT ign sys needs to have
suppression equipment. Is that just shielded HT leads?

The HT leads have to have the right markings on them.

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

It primarily refers to ignition suppression, e.g. suppressed HT leads with the correct markings on them.

Blimey, glad I checked as my HT leads definitely don't have any markings on them and no way could I prove they're suppressed.
Thanks for the responses.... Superb info.

What are the correct markings? My original ZX9 leads and coils have no markings so am assuming they will fail.
If I buy new lead cable to replace the originals what am I looking for?

My OEM Honda HT leads on the Blackbird engine had no markings and thus failed, however after searching everywhere for suitable leads i found some old
unipart ones off my old V8, luckily the Honda leads unscrew from the boots at either end so i just cut the unipart ones to length and fitted them into
the original boots.
The markings were UNIPART and a part number, Halfords leads have manufacturers markings also so i'm sure these would be OK if you can swap the
boots over or use the Car type boots.
Ash.

Yeah I can unscrew them from the coils and pull them from the plug caps and replace just wanted to know what to replace with. Plenty of places to by
HT lead cable by the metre.
Cheers

Cool,
So long as the cable has something official written on it like a manufacturers logo or paperwork to prove it meets the regs then i'm sure its
fine.
Dont buy from a HT lead seller at stonleigh as i waited months with nothing just excuses and then got a refund
