Pretty sure the others have got it right, but I'm going to DVLA office in Peterborough this afternoon to do the paperwork to change my reg to a
personalised number I bought last summer so will ask the question and let you know later what they say.

No, they were looking at introducing a scheme a few years back but it was quashed unfortunately.

The "Q" stands for question mark and that means there is a question mark to the actual make of the car, this can also be found on imports
which do not have the correct paperwork when trying to get them registered in this country. Builders of kit cars use 3 main components of the donnor
car to retain the age related registration. Bin there and tried.

Not really, you can get a Q plate on a car where the make and model is obvious. The Q is applied when there is no way of proving the age of the car.

Oh! I liked the idea of a Q plate. Proud of the fact it's not a massed produced car. What is the point of building something then pretending
it's something else. If you want a classic restore one. If you want a kit build one. Be as professional as possible either way and what's
the problem. But now I find out anyone can get one. Shame

What if you got something like Q123 NOB or Q123 GAY or Q123 TIT etc. That would suck.

Sorry Johnnyp, as suspected the answer's no.
And I must say what a helpful bunch the DVLA in Peterborough were yesterday.
Went in with the form for the new reg number and my new engine details and asked the girl on the counter what I had to do (couldn;t be ar*ed reading
it all) . She said "give it all here and I'll do it for you". Filled in various boxes, stamped bits of paper and then handed it all
back to me and said take it to the office upstairs. Gave the paperwork over to the girl there and two minutes later she gave me a new tax disc with my
new Reg number on it. Wonderful service. All done and dusted within 10 mins and new V5 will come in the post within 10 days. Sorted.
Must say I've been to Peterborough DVLA office three times now and they couldn't be more helpful. Eleven out of ten.
