SORN website and phones not working...

Yes I know I should have done it before now but I've just gone online to sorn my car for the winter and the site isn't working!

I then tried phoning 0300 123 4321 and it's saying that "essential maintenance" is underway.

Grr, I'd better not get a fine just because their site is broken!

Thought it was just me.

No Post Office open at this time of night!

Plus going to the PO means queuing with the great unwashed, actually finding the bits of paper, MOT and insurance and then actually paying the money over.

Online, they check it's MOT'd and insured and somehow paying online doesn't feel as bad as paying cash money!

Log the time you tried and try again tomorrow.
If the site is down they can't prosecute.
A screen grab is also a good idea.

I've declared sorn on line over a week late on more than one occasion
and never had a fine yet. So I'm quite happy to wait till tomorrow to do
mine.

According to the DVLA website, SORN isnt required if the vehicle is kept off the road and untaxed for less than 14 days.

In my book, than means that you have 14 days from when the tax disc expires to either SORN the vehicle or retax it - but you must not use it on the road during the 14 days.
