IVA Application

Hi all.

Just about to submit the IVA application and have a couple of questions that the collective may be able to help with.

Engine I have is a late 1980 2l Pinto (bought it some time ago off a guy who took it out of a RH Seven). I am wondering what values to put in the output power part of the form? I have done loads of searching (including here) and have decided that 5200rpm is probably a realistic max but not sure about the power. I have seen anything from 54 to 97bhp whilst searching the 'net'!

Anyone give me a good ballpark figure for the power? I'm running standard 32/36 DGAV carb setup.

In a previous thread I mentioned the weights, and reckon about 390kg front axle and 260kg rear axle, so was thinking 500kg front and 450kg rear on the form?

Thoughts please?

JB

Output power? What is the question?
Admittedly mine was for SVA, but the only question that mentioned power was, max power RPM. For that they want the RPM that your engine achieves max power, not the power. They use that to calculate the revs at which to do the noise test (done 3/4max power RPM).

For the weights I'd put 500f, 500r. Thats whats commony used.

They don't actually DO anything with the power figure, but it ends up on the IAC (previously MAC) in the box marked 'Max net power (kW at min-1)' - mine was 112/5700 - I had quoted it as 150 bhp - they did the conversion to kW.

As Adithorp says, they use the max power revs for the sound test - they run it at 3/4 of the figure you quote.

My IAC said 550 front (axle 1) and 500 rear (axle 2). Design weights I quoted on the form. They weighed it at the test, and that is on the IAC as well......

Ignore the red circles - they were mistakes the tester made when I got the original cert (this being the corrected one) - I had to go back to get them to alter them (they spelt 'Luego' as Leugo and got the engine number wrong)

The question is 3t:

"What is the engine maximimum power and the engine speed at which it is obtained?"

They ask fo it in kw@rpm or bhp@rpm.

Haynes Sierra manual gives max power 77KW at 5200 rpm.

( = 100 HP )
