Changing details on the V5 - max net power
I am just in the process of trying to change my engine number and capacity on my V5 (fun and games with the DVLA asking for a letetr from the
manufacturer of the engine, or a garage blah blah blah).. Anyway, whilst I am at it, I wondered if I need to change the maximum net power figure. I
originally put a value that was matched to the engine I had, but with my engine change, I will be well over that....
1. Is it possible to change it and if so how?
2. Is it illegal to have an engine that is more powerful than the V5 states?
Has anyone else had a similar issue, or did everyone just specify a really high number on the original paperwork to avoid this problem in the future?

You could try and ask them to change it with a covering note, but they would probabbly ask for proof (certficate from mechanic).
There is no legal reason why HP needs to be accurate on the V5, as long as the engine size is correct, and the car is insured correctly.

When I did mine they needed a headed letter from a garage confirming the change, make sure that engine size and engine numbers are on the letter as
well as the log book change part. It actually went quite smooth for the DVLA.
I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered.

The letter for the engine details I am happy with - I have a friendly mechancic. It was the max net power that worried me, as I will be well over it!
