V5 - Keepers / Dates question - help please

Hi all,

Just received my V5 for the Robin Hood which was given an age related newly made up D plate

It has the number of former keepers as 5, with the previous registered owner showing as that of the donor vehicle.

It has "rebuilt - assembled from parts some or all of which were not new" in the special notes section

It has the date of me aquiring the vehicle as 06/02/1997 (which is about when I bought the donor)

It has date of first reg as 01/08/1986 EDIT: also date of first reg in uk 01/08/1986

Is this all correct? To the uninformed it looks like I own a Robin Hood which was registered in Aug 86, that has had 6 owners including me, and I've owned it for 16 years ish. I thought it would be a bit clearer than this with at least some reference to the date the RH was built.

Help/advice appreciated,

ta

Most of that is wrong. If its just been iva'd then it should have only one owner. The acquired date is wrong and several other bits I believe.

Get it changed quick... Put the corrections on the V5, sign it and send it back. Dont bother ringing them, they are next to useless

If you are going t return it don't forget to take a copy.

I had a similar problem with the date of first registration - set it all out in a comprehensive letter - DVLA said they were correct.

As said above, this is plainly B****cks but good luck with persuading the DVLA that they don't know what they're doing

If you keep the body (ie:escort) and put all new zetec gear in - it retains reg & tax etc..
If you scrap the body - new chassis but keep all original running gear - new reg - new tax class - new book.

Own chassis & Build - First time pass!!

Yeah all your replies are as I expected.

I wanted a V5 saying first reg'd 12/12/12, built from bits that might not be new, 0 previous keepers type-of-thing,

So what's the concensus, write the corrections on the V5 and send it back (recorded and having taken a copy)? Or do I put it all in a letter and attach it to the V5 and send?

To make it even worse they got my address wrong too, 0/10

Get the V5 corrected now how ever painful it might be, as down the road could cause more hassle as it might appear to have been rung from another older Robin Hood.

Bump!

Do I just write corrections all over the v5 and sign and return it as suggested or do I go about it some other way?

Thanks
Stott

Hi Stott if you can, take things back to local office where u applied to register the car and bite thy lip and explain nicely! Worked for me a while ago with aprevious build. If you have to send it I would write an explanatory letter and not all over the document.
Cheers D
