IVA help wanted
HI
I have started on my haynes roadster again this week end after not touching it for a while.
The car is basicly finished and just needs a few bits sorted to meet the IVA spec
I started the build when the book first came out and the car is built to quite a high standard but some of the parts i have purchased suposedly IVA
complyent have turned out to be otherwise.
Hopefully i can get these issues sorted and get it on the road
Questions hopefully somone on here can answer
I have a Robin hood stainless silencer but the edge of the can is quite sharp on the weld and i have since been told that the noise level will be too
loud. can any one recomend a suitable silencer?
Wing mirrors i have the universal CVS ones but there is no marking are these do i require E marked ones?
side repeaters i have fitted these in the scuttle and these are not visable from 5 deg to the rear (pre IVA this is what realy buged me) i am
planning to fit some led ones in the wing mirror tips is this acceptable?
What to do about the existing holes can i leave them in? i was thinking about maybe some badges?
and my final problem is one of my rear fiber glass wheel arches is out of shape pushing one of the rear lights out of square to the rear. i only
noticed this 2 years after i purchased these from Roadrunner racing and too late to do anything about it.
thease are now fitted to the car and whilst i can buy some more i doubt these will be the same shape or colour any ideas if MK are still selling
these?
And my last question the front wheel arches are a bit too narrow by about an inch not quite covering the tyre can any one recommend a wide edging etc
my other option is narrower wheels for IVA or new arches.
will try and post some pictures
Regards
Gaz

Some test stations interpret the rules different to others so what some one will tell you will work at one may not at another.

Just put some grommets in the scuttle giving you the option to adjust to your taste after the test. That's how I did mine after the goal posts
where moved. The best place for the repeaters in my opinion is in the rear mudguard.

is it repackable? (does it have rivets or screws), if so buy some accustifil or similar and that will help. do you know how loud it acctually is, as
dont trust someones guess it might be too loud.
edge will need a 2.5mm radius, so file and weld edges (high grit flap wheel)

No e marks are required, just meet the size requirements and obviously the rear viability requirements.

as long as they meet the requirements, just be sure that when the mirrors are reasonably adjusted to various positions they still meet.

leave them in place, remove the bulbs and stick some vinyl over them, then reinstate them post IVA. MoT wont check angles so will pass fine.
and my final problem is one of my rear fiber glass wheel arches is out of shape pushing one of the rear lights out of square to the rear. i only

only the fog needs to be square to the rear so just adjust that.

Yep - me too. Suffered similar failure, after following advice from this forum, to put side repeaters into rear of headlamp bowls. The 5 deg rule
caught me out. Sorted it eventually.

Simply disconnected the side panel original repeaters, and those in the headlamp bowls. No probs with the IVA tester.

Go for the narrower wheels, for IVA. Change after.

My repeaters are in the front arches and passed without problems. As mentioned each test centre interprets the rules in different ways.
Also I thought my silencer was way too quiet and everyone who heard the car said would be ok. Then comes the IVA and you are allowed 99.0db and mine
was exactly 99.0 so lucky escape.

So it would seem! Although the tester I encountered at Kidderminster was pretty fair, and helpful, but always made his assessments according to the
official guidelines.
