Proving engine age.

I'm nearing the end of my build and am starting to look at filling out the IVA application with a view to send it off later this month.

Problem is I cant prove the age of the hayabusa motor. I have spoken to suzuki GB and given them all the numbers I could find on the block/gearbox casing but none of them were related to a manufacture date. I believe you need the VIN from the donor bike to identify the age which has long gone!

I know its an early hayabusa motor 1999/2000 ish due to the style of the plugs on my power commander.

Question is, do I have to produce this evidence at test or can it default in some way??

Really need some help on this as its the only part causing me grief.

Any help much appreciated.

If the engine is post '95 then the emmision test will be done to the tougher BETs test standard anyway (and you'll need a 'cat to pass). Providing proof of age only helps if it's 'pre Sept'95 so you get the easier non-cat test.

Engine is definitely post '95 and I have a cat fitted.

Will there be any iva application issues if I don't include any proof of engine. E.g have my application sent back or take longer to process??

I didn't do anything with mine (SVA) and they just tested to the stricter limits. If it asks for an age on the form (can't remember) just put 2001. It won't delay the application though AFAIK.

It doesn't ask for it on the form but it does mention it in the guidance notes. It says you need to present evidence of engine age at the test so they can determine which emissions test it has.

Engine age is proven on the day.

I had a letter from Ford confirming the age, but it would very easy (if you were so inclined) to make your own.

Easiest thing is probably to give the examiner a ring and he will set you straight on what he wants.
