Rent-a-cats and emissions?

I'm in the process of deciding exactly what I will build and with what motor. I've got so far as an MK Indy with a carburetted R1 motor.

After reading the striker website I think I will go the R1 route but was curious as to why a cat and air bleed valves setup is only required for the SVA?

The emissions are never checked again in the MOT? What if the police do a road side emission check? Re-rent a Rent-a-cat?

Any help'd be appreciated!

Chris.

there are a few possible scenarios. if you get a Q plate, you only have a visible smoke test at MOTs. any newly SVA'd car is mot exempt for 3 years. if the engine is a different age to the main donor (ie, 2000 engine and 1988 sierra donor) then the mot emmsions will be done to 1988 levels, so a cat wont be needed.

hope that helps, and that someone else will fill in the gaps.

ps, are you from leeds? its just theres a place called winstons round here (allegedly...!)
