V11 Tax reminder
Been on the road 6 months, doesnt time fly
Although my reminder tells me i need an MOT certificate,i was under the impression i wouldnt need one till 3 years after my SVA pass.
Anyone else had problems with this ?
Called Swansea or a call centre somewhere, they say i do not need an MOT i wonder if the post office will understand.

bob,
If the V5 you have is one of the new type, then goto the licencing website, you can order the tax on line, there system should check the need for an
MOT or not. I personally think that my local post office would not understand.

Sorry you are wrong. If your car goes through a SVA test and you register it for the first time your V5 will show the current date regardless of it
being built from donor parts of any age. The rules say that an MOT is required 3 years after the first date of registration. I argued this point with
Swansea and in the end got a call saying I was right and STATUS insisted that they get their act together and stop mucking kit car owners about.
When you retax you will need your V5 so just show the person behind the counter the date of registration.

Well their was a slight debate about the reminder stating that i needed a current MOT,i did have to show the counter staff my V5 and in the end i
walked away with my tax disc.
I would imagine a jobsworth PO counter staff would make you have it though,as with the ministry its luck of the draw.
