IVA registration and engine number.
So, i'm building a Dax Rush.
Some of the parts came from a Sierra Cosworth that I used for steering column, diff and front hubs and rear hubs.
So, I haven't used the engine but as you might have seen from other threads have bought a 2.0 crate zetec. Now the 2.0 crate zetec has no engine
number on the side as I understand that Ford dealers restamp them with the same number when they replace the engines.
So what do I do for IVA?
Do I stamp the number of the original Sierra Cosworth. I might have fitted it as a replacement and checking it out in the sierra before putting it in
the Dax? It is the same CC.
Do I put no number of it? If so there will be no engine number on the log book.
If I do stamp it with the Sierra's engine number what emissions test will I get.
It all seems a bit of a minefield.
How technical are the people who come and inspect all the numbers.

The IVA testers are very very knowledgable and are now doing what was the DVLA build up inspection
My suggestion is to find a knackered Zetec block pre 1995 for non cat emissions

Ok I get that even someone who was half blind might not spot a zetec for a cosworth so will be going for cat and emissions. The question still stands
though, what number do I stamp on my engine??

I'm pretty sure he answered you!
Get a knackered eng and use that number,if I've understood his reply......

IVA without engine number
I put my Westfield 1.8 without engine no.just put n/a on IVA form and with a letter saying it was a new engine from the factory without engine no.IVA
examiner sort it out

I have a pre cat 1993 2.0 zetec block complete with a letter from mr Ford for proof of age. Needs a rebore as one cylinder slightly scored.
my crate zetec I've bought to replace the knackered one does have numbers stamped on it, but they look like they were put on by the supplier
rather than proper Ford items.
Not sure about "transferred" numbers, but I guess as long as someone's not trying to pass off a knicked motor then might be a way to
get nice easy emissions test and not a million miles off what I've done which is use the older engine for IVA and emissions and replace with a
new one.
