chassis stampping
hi just stamped my chassis number in a strip of metal the letter and numbers are different sizes would that be a problem or not? and can i weld it on
at both ends or does it need to be all the way around?

if the sizes are similar, and all over 3.5mm high, should be ok.
but the plate has to be seem welded all round
see iva manual section 18, statutory plates.
12. The Vehicle Identification number on the manufacturer’s plate must be marked in characters at least 3.5mm high.
ps, where did you get the number that you are using?

Note 12: Where the ‘stamped in VIN’ is stamped on to a separate metal plate it must be secured to the frame by a continuous seam weld around the
entire length of the plate; tack or spot welding should not be considered an appropriate method of attachment for such a plate. To stamp the number
into a tubular chassis member is not always practical but there may be instances where it could be stamped in another similar part of the vehicle
structure which is not easily removable
14. The characters used for the VIN stamped into the chassis, frame or other similar structure must be at least 3.5mm high.
