Engine numbers
Interesting one with my latest build......The engine block was purchased direct from landrover back in 2007...It's brand new and has never been
used. It was basically the very last run of rover V8 blocks, and they did not stamp a number on them. I have the receipt, and on the receipt there is
a hand written number....do I, stamp the number on the block?, just leave it and present the receipt at IVA....or...I also have the number of an older
engine block that I no longer exists....I could stamp that in?. Can I talk to Vosa about this?.
Any advice appreciated.

That was what was generally done for crate Zetecs commonly used, and also dont come with engine numbers. The intention that ford would stamp the same
number in the car the crate engine was to be placed in to.

My only worry would be that if they ask to see proof of purchase, there is a number hand-written on the printed receipt. Do they ask for proof of
purchase?.

You will need proof of engine age for IVA emissions. Not proof of purchase.

I guess as the receipt is from 2007, then the engine age would be 2007....which, as I understand it requires it to be compliant to the latest
emissions regs. This is not really an issue, the car will have two cats and is fuel injected. so age starts to become irrelevant. I suppose proof of
age is important if you are trying to go with the pre 92 emissions.

Ford did this for my Pinto engine - free of charge. SVA man was more than happy with it!

Ahh...well that's a game changer...the rover v8 dates back to the 60's......could it be that such an old engine design has also been
updated. So they may consider the newer versions.
