BEC mot reverse question
If a BEC has passed an IVA recently and due its first MOT, would it be expected to have a reverse gear fitted to pass? Reverse was fitted at time of
the IVA
Cheers

Nothing in the MOT test regarding a reverse.
Electric one won't pull the car out of the brake rollers anyway!

Are you sure there's no exemption on that, possibly vehicles new after 2009? but even if not, that is a requirement for a reverse light NOT for
a reverse gear
I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator
headlights, indicators, mirrors etc, best prices in the UK! Take a look at http://www.furoreproducts.co.uk/ or find more parts on Ebay, user names
furoreltd & furoreproducts, discounts available for LCB users.
Don't forget Stainless Steel Braided brake hoses, made to your exact requirements in any of around 16 colours.

Common sense would say no reverse gear no requirement for a light . Not something I would fail but that’s just me

Might be a good idea to actually ask the testing station you intend to use? The only thing I would be concerned about is getting stuck in the brake
rollers if the tester tries to use them . Unless things have changed since I was last testing (3 years) the brakes should be tested using a Talley
meter
