SVA and Noise
Just got my Striker blade through SVA and the biggest problem was the noise not directly from the exhaust but from the vibration and general engine
noise at 7500 rpm (3/4 max 10000) The whole of the engine had almost to be lagged to do it. This was at the Cardiff centre.
Anyone with similar experiences with new regulations.

I doubt if this is a change of regs - at a guess, when they put the microphone next to the exhaust outlet it picked up all the mechanical noise from
the engine. In a BEC seven I guess that this is unavoidable! It used to be a problem with amateur-built rally cars as well, where they failed
drive-by noise tests due to the gearbox and its straight-cut gears.
Perhaps lagging the engine compartment would fix it - but there's enough heat trying to get out as it is!

The SVA guys ran their own rev counter on the engine as well as checking the rev counter on the dash and most SVA inspectors know roughly what a bike
engine will rev to, we said 10000, in fact the blade will prob rev to 11500

How about if you fitted an adjustable rev limiter for the SVA test and wound it down a bit?
