SVA pass at Derby - another yellow one hits the road

Passed SVA at Derby this morning. Thank you to ReMan who drove the support vehicle with the entire contents of my garage in it ! It all went very smoothly and the inspector was friendly and professional. Thank you to everyone on here for their help, support and advice. I intend to return the knowledge I have gained to other people. Next step is rolling road - I have been told that Noble at Chesterfield is the place to go to have my twin webers set up correctly. Even without being tuned too well it still goes like a rocket !

John Noble, Chesterfield, very good, very expensive, Brown brothers, Chesterfield, every bit as good, infact a much more personal service, much less ££££'s

John could you send me the details for Brown Brothers. I don't mind paying less for someone as good .I was only going to Noble's because other people said they were very good with webers. I have a rolling road 20 mins from me in Leicester, (run by a bunch of max power types apparently). My thoughts were best to go to someone who has heard of carbs, let alone webers !

will get number for you later tonight, gave there card to "r youngen" n he wont be in till later,

Nobles are very good, i'm not knocking there work but he prices according to the name he had for engine building ect, they are also catarham agents. The Browns have been at it for years too mainly rally cars, i found them to be more "whats this?" "how you done that?" "this would improve that" rather than the Noble, "sit in the waiting room we'll shout you when its done"

all IMHO, both will do a 1st class job, both are used to webbers, dellorto's ect rather than Max power drain pipe silencers and upping the fuel pressure on an injection car.

One is 2 mins, the other is 5 mins away from where i had the chassis set up BTW, killl 2 birds with one stone ??

Oh, well done on the pass, nearly forgot.

Do you mean the Bowns Jon?

They do a lot of rally cars. 01246 863537 Bridge street, Clay Cross across from their Dad Dennis.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

No Pete, there the off road landy people arn't they ?
The ones i used are off Storforth lane opposite ten pin bowling and behind the trailor place, just aint got number yet and there not in book, will call in Thurs as i'm passin if i dont get number before.

Have they got a rolling road at Clay X ? Not been in for a while. Theres a guy just round corner from them who makes Carbon canoes and the odd set of arch's n nose cones. Nice.

Dennis' sons

Chris and the other brother, can't remember his name, left his dads' place and went to Storforth Lane but they bought Mick Bennets place when he retired and moved back to Clay Cross. I don't know if one of them stayed in Chesterfield though, I can have a walk round there and check later on. I'll see if they have a rolling road as well. Dennis does 4x4 and Chris does rally cars and imports now.
Edit:- just got back from there, they've sold the rolling road to a guy in Macclesfield Jon.

At this rate, we will be matching the amount of police cars on the road this time next year.

Watch out for VOSA mobile vehicles in southampton area. they have been busy lately, looking for unroadworthy vehicles

Who runs a rolling road in Leicester??????

I am near Hinckley and know of Colin Blower's and John Wilcox's, both in Hinckley. I have used Wilcox's and he MORE than knows what he's doing!!!

Apparently there is one in Thurmaston, the lad at the local garage told me him and his mates use it. Sounds like it could be Maximum Velocity on the Melton road ? but not too sure. I didn't ask any further as if most of their trade is the Corsa \ Nova crew they won't be up to much with my webers.

Where / who is Colin Blower ?

Thanks again everyone for your support. Two and a half years of building was worth every minute (even the crappy ones). Took the car out today for a blast in the sun - magic, I'm still grinning (and my brother in law is probably still shaking !).
