Rear Fog Light???

I've seen a lot of discussion on the forum about the lens of the rear fog light having to be at 90 deg to the ground ie. vertical.

I have been looking at the SVA manual and cannot find where this is stated.

Am I simply missing it or is it not actually there and just an implied requirement? (Or even just one inspectorates interpretation?)

In the lighting table in section 9.1 Annex 1 it says....

-----
b. Vertical
i. 5°above and below horizontal.

I believe that the word vertical in this paragraph refers NOT to the fact that the lamp should be mounted vertically but that this is the plane that 5 deg above and below it must be visible.

I read 'squarely to the rear' to mean not pointing to either the left or the right.

At my SVA my fog lamp was pointing ever so slightly upward and he made me correct it so that it was pointing dead horizontally, or to put it another way the lens had to be at 90 degrees to the ground.

Cheers

Basically it needs to be vertical, a number of people have failed on this before so best not to take a chance.
