Anti theft devices
I have two! An ignition key and a battery isolator key. Is this enough or do I have to fit an immobiliser(more expense)as well? If so any
recommendations as to which type? Or can I just fit an alarm?

I phoned leighton buzzard SVA centre and the tester there told me that the ignition and battery cut off would be fine as anti theft devices.
Although the insurance company that gave me best quote wanted an electronic imobiliser of any type so i bought one off ebay for £3 that uses a chip in
a key fob to cut out the fuel pump or ignition.

Kit cars dont go thru an ESVA you only have to comply with the SVA part. IIRC
Chris do you have a make and/or model of the immobiliser you got

If steering lock is removed the ignition key is not acceptable. A seperate immobiliser therefore has to be fitted that cannot be operated / armed from
the driving position with the engine running.
I have fitted a Toad immobiliser to be safe - it cant be armed with engine running and has to be de-activated before firing engine up. I have heard of
people fitting a battery isolator under the bonnet (careful though cos some dont stop the engine when turned).
Steering locks work cos they engage when key removed and disengage when key is inserted. Crook lock would therefore not be acceptable as the engine
can be started with it fitted in position.
Only one device required for SVA. If in doubt ring the tester. My local guy was extremely helpful when i called him.
