boot cover
does the boot cover need to be made of a rigid material i.e. wood or plastic or will a soft vinyl cover pass SVA.

You dont need a boot cover for SVA....you can just leave the back open.

My SVA inspector drew a line round the top of the body work around my boot lid. He said that outside of that everything had to be radiused by 2.5mm
or more and inside could be covered in razorblades and it would pass. I get the impression he thought the rules were a bit arbitrary in places.

I know some testers radius check the area inside the rear panel (boot) as it is in theory contactable with their ball thingy. It takes half hour to
make a ply lid covered in vinyl, screw in place and there is no worries.

...it only takes half an hour if you have a simple hoop-tyype roll bar. If you have back struts it's a bugger

Just make the main section to fit into the space between braces and use separate sections with cut out for each side . Use a router to radius outside
edges and cover with vinyl. Easy job.
