Steering system

Hi

Is it law that i have to put a modern steering system on my car e.g. collapsable steering column, steering lock?

you need a collapsable steering column to pass the sva i think

Oliver,

The manual requires that you have either collapsible column, sliding links and/or bends of between 15 and 30 degs.

For the fun of it, I put them all in mine. If the angle of the joints is over 30 deg it apparently has an adverse effect (as in ineffectual steering), and below 15 not enough deflection in the event of a dingdong.

And I needed to get round my engine somehow
